Spring is soon here in Budapest with a range of great events to see for yourself. From March to May, Budapest is offering exciting programs, like festivals, fairs, concerts, and more.
Besides the festivals, fairs, etc. there are several public holidays during spring time in Budapest, which does not mean that life comes to a standstill, but shopping options will be limited:
March 15: the historical national holiday with some rallies in bad times, concerts and parades in good or bad times
Easter Monday: along with Easter Sunday, these two days are special in Budapest, not lastly because of the Budapest Easter festival
May 1: the Labour Day is celebrated in Budapest with picnics, concerts and more.
Best Budapest Spring Events

One of the biggest cultural festivals in the Hungarian capital is the Budapest Spring Festival, which follows the dates of Easter time each year as the Easter festivals and fairs are part of the Budapest Spring Festival. Must see event if you love art shows, concerts, etc.
Easter time in Budapest means that you can see the Budapest Easter events, and take part in numerous Budapest Easter activities, like the Buda Castle Easter Festival. A very child friendly time to visit Budapest, Hungary as the city is buzzing with events, tours and other things to do. And if you wish to attend a church ceremony, a Budapest Easter mass, do so. The Hungarian Flavours Festival is a food fair and cultural event. Twice a year in Budapest, you can taste real home made Hungarian flavours at the event called Kezmuves Izek Vasara.
One of the best spring events in Budapest is the highly popular fruit brandy festival called Palinka Fesztival. The Palinka Festival is the spring edition (usually in May), while its autumn counterpart, the Palinka and Sausage Festival usually comes in October. Visiting the Obuda Day Festival in Budapest feels a bit like visiting a little town within Budapest. In fact Obuda is the Old Buda town, which merged into Budapest in the 19th century. Its lovely main square (Fo ter) and several historical buildings are the venues of this festival – off the beaten path Budapest.
The Quarter 6 Quarter 7 Festival is one of the major Jewish festivals in Budapest, which has a vivid Jewish community life in downtown Budapest, in District 6 and 7 (hence quarter 6 and 7). Held twice a year, once in spring, once in winter.
The goose liver festival in Budapest is a popular event. It can be scheduled for late spring or early summer, which usually turns out 2-3 weeks before the event. The lovely spring event of Cherry Blossom Festival is for those who love and wish to immerse in a bit of Japanese culture in Budapest. The Budapest Antique and Modern Art Street Festival called Falk Art Forum offers lots of fine art events and some related concerts too. The antique shop quarter of Budapest is located in Falk Miksa Street. If you love old and modern art, this is a great event to see in spring time.
Beethoven in Buda Festival is one of the special classical music festivals in Budapest. A three day concert series commemorated to Ludwig van Beethoven.
Budapest Restaurant Week is a dining festival: eating cheaper at some of the best places in Budapest? Sounds appealing right? It is a very popular event in spring, usually in March.

Night of Baths Budapest is a fun event with the major Budapest baths opening their gates at night for a cheap price. Bath crawling / bath hopping with DJs.
